Billings' Best Bets July 8

It's Walk and Talk with the Doc night presented by St. Vincent Healthcare and the Billings YMCA. Exercise and visit with physician Cheryl Cook and fitness specialist Mistie Morgan beginning at 6 in the lobby of the Y.


Around our region, the Fourth of July Pow Wow continues in Lame Deer, in Miles City, Shakespeare in the Parks presents "All's Well That Ends Well". And, in West Yellowstone, the British comedy "See How They Run" takes the stage at the Playmill Theatre.

Billings' Best Bets July 6
It's not too late to get in on the Summer Theatre School at Venture Theatre.
The first session begins tomorrow and runs for two weeks. This session is for Kindergarten through 8th grade and is intended for students who are new to theatre. On July 21st, the second session begins and is limited to students who have previous theatre experience. For information and registration, call 591-9535.

The Montana Barbecue Cook-Off is underway in Absarokee today with cash prizes for competitors and a People's Choice Award. There will be live music, microbrews and food available.

And, in Cody, it's the Cody Nite Rodeo at the Stampede Grounds. The rodeos continue every night in Cody through August 31. For complete rodeo events, call 307-587-5155.

Billings' Best Bets July 5
Get in on the first Saturday Dollar Days at the Yellowstone Art Museum. Beginning today, admission to the Yellowstone Art Museum will be only one dollar on the first Saturday of the month. Museum hours on Saturday are from 10am to 5pm.

The Freedom Celebration continues in Columbus with a parade, kids' carnival, craft and food vendors, a flea market and town wide garage sales. For more information, call 406-332-0330.

Billings' Best Bets July 4
Happy July 4th! There will be lots of bang for your buck around our region today, beginning with the parade in Laurel at 11am. Enjoy the Freedom Jam in Thompson Park with live music, activities, games, arts and crafts and a Car Show. And, of course the fireworks begin at dusk.

At Castle Rock Park in Billings it's "Celebrate Freedom". Free live entertainment, activities and games. Concessions and a barbeque are available for a nominal charge. Fireworks begin at dusk.

In Cody, the 89th Annual Cody Stampede continues and, it's the 79th annual Home of Champions Rodeo. And, in Lodge Grass, the Valley of the Chiefs Pow Wow and Rodeo continues through July 7.

Billings' Best Bets July 3
Beginning today, the Western Heritage Center will host "Montana Ghost Towns: The Photography of Denes G. Istvanffy in the Community Gallery. Istvanffy began photographing Montana ghost towns in 1989 under a license from the Montana Centennial Commission. For this exhibit he has selected 30 of his favorite ghost town photos including Bannack, Virginia City, Elkhorn, Marysville and Garnet. The exhibit will remain up through September 18th. And, tonight kicks off the Summer Concert Series sponsored by St. Johns Lutheran Ministries and St. Vincent Healthcare. Rob Quist and Great Northern perform tonight beginning at 6 at St. John's and the concert is free.

Billings' Best Bets July 2
It's rodeo season and there is plenty of action in our region! In Cody, the 89th Annual Cody Stampede Rodeo continues. In Harlowton, the 55th annual NRA sanctioned Bonus Bucks Rodeo kicks off today and runs through July 4th.

In Livingston, the Roundup Rodeo continues. Tonight is "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" breast cancer awareness night, beginning at 8 o'clock.

And, closer to home, it's the 79th Home of Champions Rodeo in Red Lodge.
The event features some of professional rodeo's top cowboys and cowgirls and runs through July 4th with a parade through downtown Red Lodge each day at noon.

Billings' Best Bets July 1
Tonight is the last in a series of "Conversations Among Women", part of a group art exhibit titled "Strong Intuitions". It begins at 5:30 at Level 504 and is open to the public.

Shakespeare in the Parks continues their tour of our region with a performance of "Macbeth" tonight at Chico Hot Springs. The classic Shakespearian tragedy contains some of the Bard's best known speeches. Tonight's performance begins at 6pm on the lawn at Chico and it's free.

And, Seattle's all girl (and one dude) band, TacoCat are in Billings for a performance tonight at the Yellowstone Perk.
